Recipient of the 2011 Paul E. Tsongas Award by Preservation Massachusetts. Adaptive reuse of the oldest building on the Springfield College Campus, the 1894 Judd Gym. Over time significant changes have altered the historic character of the building.
Our renovation design restored the original character of the building and allowed for new uses to be accommodated.
A new archive space, a college museum, two large multi purpose rooms, a YMCA center, an Alumni Office Suite and 2 classrooms are contained within the renovated building.
The overall project budget was seven million dollars. The project also included completely new HVAC, plumbing, electric, a new elevator, a new accessible entrance and an updated landscape plan.
